| The Vision

Born in the secluded kingdom of Trœzen to Princess Æthra and secretly fathered by King Ægeus of Athens, Theseus's destiny is shrouded in mystery. Raised under the watchful eye of the King of Trœzen, his true lineage is revealed upon reaching manhood when Æthra leads him to a great stone, beneath which lie Ægeus's sword and shoes—tokens left for his rightful heir. This discovery ignites a burning desire to claim his birthright and journey to Athens. His path to Athens is no mere travel; it is a trial by fire across the treacherous lands of Greece. Eschewing the safer sea route, Theseus chooses the perilous overland journey, confronting a series of monstrous bandits and challenges. Among them is Periphetes, the Club-Bearer of Epidaurus, whom Theseus defeats, claiming his infamous bronze club as his own. Each victory hardens his resolve and hones his skills, drawing parallels to the legendary Hercules, solidifying his reputation as a burgeoning hero. Upon his arrival in Athens, Theseus is initially unrecognized by his father, King Ægeus, who is under the sway of a sorceress. Yet, his heroic deeds soon become undeniable, and his true identity is revealed. Athens itself is gripped by fear, forced to send a tribute of youths to Crete as sacrifice to the monstrous Minotaur within the Labyrinth. With unwavering courage and a fierce determination to save his people and prove his worth, Theseus volunteers to be among the next tribute, ready to face the beast and secure his place as the rightful savior of Athens.
